Our Mission

We are a small network that is self published and there for self funding, therefore we book ventues, transport & panels out of our own pocket.

MG at its heart is a group of dedicated advocates committed to improving representation in popular media. As part of our mission, we regularly hold panel discussions, workshops and presentations on industry-relevant topics which aim to empower and educate. We have previously worked with schools, colleges, business and major industry events to advocate the need for better representation and to provide a platform for others to access and thrive in the video games industry.

MG hosts a variety of podcasts and interviews, exploring a wide range of topics, challenges and recent events around the video games industry and representation in media at large. Join us for down to earth conversation about what it means to be represented in modern media, featuring industry professionals, the MG squad and members of the community among many others.

Join us at our regular free tournaments and events where you can play competitive or just for fun! Come meet our amazing online community IRL and have the chance to play games, win prizes, network and meet the MG squad in person.

At it’s core MG exists to promote and celebrate the efforts of its amazing community. MG is always looking to showcase the latest news and updates from it’s talented community members, if you have a project or venture that you’re working on we want to hear about it!.

MG reports on the latest news from the video games industry as well as popular media at large. MG delivers a variety of articles, stories and updates to keep you in the loop, with perspectives and insights from the squad themselves. We keep the conversation going on our socials, so our community can always let us know what they think of the latest updates.

Melaningamers has opened up a whole new community of content creators and gamers that I would have never found on my own. This community is very supportive and open to everyone. The first time I saw the name "Melanin Gamers", I immediately knew it was something I needed to be a part of. It took me a long time to not only appreciate the Melanin in my skin but find other gamers who look like me who also play/enjoy similar games so finding this inclusive space was a breath of fresh air. Also, the founder/creator Anzy was a huge reason as to why I wanted to part of this community. Anzy is kind, supportive, inspiring & a huge motivation to me. Her & the MG Squad welcomed me with open arms without hesitation and we all instantly became family. Melanin Gamers is a community & brand I'm proud to represent and also glad to see continue to grow. Most importantly Melanin Gamers promotes diversity, positivity & inclusivity to all whilst also advocating for people of color who are Gamers which aligns with my personal morals and values"

I am struggling to find where I belong in the gaming world. Being a woman of color and gaming don’t seem to be things that typically go together and when I found out there was a group like this I was star struck! I love defying stereotypes, and being proud of my color. To the question you’re probably wondering right now, if you’ve seen my picture. I’m Black and Mexican. My Mexican father left before I was born so I was raised by my beautiful black mama in seas of cornbread and box braids. I am apart of the African American Honorary at my school, and it has been my school home. So to find an even more niche family for me in the gaming world would be wonderful. I feel like when I leave school I don’t have people to really connect with.

The group creates an environment of success, by supporting each other’s achievements; Integrity, demonstrating accepted behaviours and being good role models; Perseverance, watching each other through twitch app/ following each other on social media and supporting each other at Melanin Gamers events; Community, not only online, the attendance of Melanin Gamers events; Finally a purposeful atmosphere of allowing ideas to be shared and bonds to be created.
