What got you into gaming? (first game you ever played)

As far as I’m concerned I am a lifelong gamer. From as far back watching my father play Q-bert. It’s oldddddd, if you’re old enough you know what I am talking about. I come from a family of gamers – even my Mum was big into Ms Pac-Man. Then it was my brothers and I growing up playing everything along the way – all the consoles Mes to the SNES, to PlayStation. We would play everything from fighting games to sports games.

What got you into streaming – what inspired the process from gamer to streamer?

Coming into the streaming world is very recent for me. Streaming of course stemmed from my love of gaming. I got into the fighting game scene and realised okay I am not that great at fighting games but being in that environment piqued my curiosity. So I started watching YouTube videos about gamers playing fighting games to level up my own skills. That’s what sparked it. I didn’t go straight to streaming – I went to podcasting – talking about Soul Calibur. That was the door to content creation for me. I started watching streamers. I realised it wasn’t always about being the best but the personality of the streamer. That would attract similar minded people.  I wanted to stream but the only time I could do this was in my lunch break. I would stream Call of Duty at lunchtime – hence Call of Lunch was created.

What do you love about MG?

Obviously, as a gamer of colour, I love the overall mission of trying to promote inclusion and diversity. I like how supportive everyone is in MG – everyone seems to be lifting each other up. There is really a sense of camaraderie. Everyone is willing to help each other. Even though it is really spread out – we have people from Europe, to America to Africa. We are still working towards a common goal. Once I came across you all – I loved the idea of supporting your mission. I just felt like this was a cause worthy of supporting.

What kind of streamer are you?

Well, when I first got into streaming I wanted to stream fighting games like Soul Calibar – but I wasn’t that great. I also really enjoy battle royales and shooters so I gravitated towards Call of Duty – I enjoy Apex – most recently I have gotten into Spell break. I have always loved the multi-player games. Gaming with others is important to me. As far as my style – I try to be energetic with my gaming and my streams. I would describe my streaming style to more like a stream of consciousness.

Plans for the future in terms of streaming? What you would like to see in terms of diversity?

As far as my plans I want to continue to grow. My big dream is if I could go full-time with my streaming – that’s a very long term goal. I want to focus on creating content. Share my love of gaming with other people.

When it comes to diversity I feel like we have taken strides – for example, a game like Apex – it’s the most diverse cast of characters I have seen in a game. I want to see more of that. Also more diversity in terms of people actually making the games.

How would you describe MG to someone?

A group of gamers trying to promote diversity – that are looking to support gamers and content creators of colour. A group that goes out of their to really support each other and I am proud to call myself a member.
