What got you into gaming? (first game you ever played)
From the moment my dad brought the PS1 we started playing scooby Doo – it was amazing to play something on the TV – it felt really cool being a character on a game – and seeing something come to life with me controlling the characters.
What got you into streaming – what inspired the process from gamer to streamer?
I wanted my Youtube to portray things that like – basically people to see the sort of person I am – a way to connect with people. The reason why I want to be on Youtube I want to be a visible face for black gamers. Specifically, female black gamers – there isn’t enough black female Youtube gamers – it’s important to me that the face of gaming reflects all the different types of gamers.
What do you love about MG?
One thing I love about MG – is the team that run the events – MG team was very welcoming at one of the events I went to IRL – everyone was talking to me, they were all really approachable. Very hands-on with running things and involved.
I understand and like the message Melanin Gamers is promoting. I love the idea that it is melanin so everyone is welcome to join – very inclusive and warm community.
What kind of streamer are you?
I am a variety streamer – someone who loves to talk to my community. I stream what like. My favourite games are Apex, Overwatch and COD. But I do like branching out onto different games.
Plans for the future in terms of streaming? What you would like to see in terms of diversity?
I would like to grow a successful platform to become one of the prominent faces of YouTube gaming. I want to see more partnerships with black people in gaming – I want to see the minorities shine for once. There needs to be a space for us.
How would you describe MG to someone?
Melanin Gamers is a community that welcomes gamers into the industry. They do a lot of events – they are just really welcoming – you feel like you are at homes with a bunch of gamer friends.
