What got you into gaming? (first game you ever played)
The first game I ever played was Tetris at my elementary school, on one of those old-school big computers. It got so popular at my school that they started doing Tetris tournaments.
Then when I got my Gameboy soon after, I knew I had to get Tetris on it!
What got you into streaming – what inspired the process from gamer to streamer?
It was actually my cousins that inspired me, you’ll see them chatting in my streams. They were like: you’re a social guy and you like gaming you should stream. I was hesitant at first, but; I work in the military so I get moved around a lot and the most recent place I was moved to that has over 200 staff – only has 3 people look like me, it messes with your head. I wanted to create a space and connect with people who look like me.
That’s why I have the whole Spiderman Miles Morales theme. Miles embodies what I want to do on my channel; he is the perfect representation of a blerd. One of the first people I connect with was Professor Proto who’s also in MG. The first game I ever streamed was Monster Hunter.
What do you love about MG?
The reason why I got into streaming was to connect with people who looked like me, then when I discovered MG – it was the epitome of what I was searching for. I met other people who are like me. It was exactly what I wanted to find, then when I got in I realised, hold on, I know a lot of these people and it reinforced the idea that I was in the right place.
What kind of streamer are you?
I am a variety streamer – I like playing a lot of looter shooters like The Division, Destiny and offline I play Apex. I like MMO’s such as Final Fantasy 14. RPG’s like Monster Hunter.
I enjoy the people that I have met during streaming – only one or two negative experiences. Mostly it’s very chilled in my streams. I want to see my community grow. Basically, just meet dope people and talk about anime.
Plans for the future in terms of streaming? What you would like to see in terms of diversity?
When it comes to the future I want to see my community grow, more people of colour out there. More of us on the Twitch front page. My daughter plays Sims 4 and I was looking for a streamer so she could watch and it was so hard to find.
How would you describe MG to someone?
I would describe MG as inviting. MG makes me feel like I am in a room full of extended family; aunts, uncles and cousins.
